| Unfortunately for Orr proponents, hockey careers and players are not
defined by single seasons. If it were, we would have other names we would
have to consider in this conversation. As is, longevitity is a
significant factor, and although Orrs career length was certainly longer
than Paul Average Hockey Players, he is significantly hurt by the fact
that he was not able to last longer. |
| CAREER OPPORTUNITY : Im sure NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and his
thought police are really happy to get this kind of publicity. The
latest wrestler to surface on the WWF stage is a guy all gussied up in a
hockey uniform complete with skates. His nickname, which is prominently
displayed on the back of his sweater is The Goon. He is particularly
adept at using his skates as a weapon. It opens all sorts of job
possibilities for players such as the Leafs Tie Domi when their hockey
careers are over. |
| Again karnak, you going to be the president of the czechs back up
goalies fan club for that heroic effort he did passing the water bottles
to the players that actuaslly made it over the boards ? You want to end
this whole debaucle, name me the players, its a simple task seeing as you
are so convinced that they exist, yet despite me asking, you never say who
they are but are convinced that they exist. European leagues, like the I,
the C and the A are developmental leagues where tommorows NHL stars are
currently playing, as well as a lot of people who have reached the
pinnacle of their hockey careers, as well as a few players from the NHL
who are well past thier prime. Does this make them miockey mouse ?
Perhaps this is a little harsh, burt saying that they are a distant,
distant second rate league ( w.r.t the NHL) is absolutely true. You want
to argue that the swedish elite league is better than the A or the I, go
ahead. |

Reg Cardinal and Jason Mansoff planned to take off to Panama City,
Fla. MTVs Spring Break beckoned.
Dan Shermerhorn was just going to hang out in Orono, rest a little
after a long hockey season for the University of Maine.
But 30 minutes after their hockey careers ended at Maine, so did
their plans for sun, fun or relaxation.
Mansoff, Cardinal and Shermerhorn signed 30-day tryout
contracts with the Portland Pirates less than an hour after the Black
Bears beat Massachusetts 10-3 Saturday night.
Mansoff, a defenseman, was the only one to play Sunday in
Portlands 4-4 tie with the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Cumberland County
Civic Center.
We didnt play a very good team (Saturday) so it was like Oh
God, said Mansoff, who had a new red welt over his left eye. The guys
are stronger here. The hittings about the same. But things happen more
quickly here.
Mansoff, who finished his Maine career with 22 goals and 39 assists
and a plus-80 r. |
| On another point. I did Midget C playoffs yesterday. I knew I was in trouble
when I found out I was doing the bronze medal game. Speaking of absolutely
no motivation to play in the last game of 3/4s of these kids careers. Had 2
fights and had to toss a coach. This coach never seems to last through the
games when I ref. Maybe its because hes loud and thinks that if his team
s, its the refs fault. Oh well, after the game during the medal
presentations, the winning teams coach decided to tell the losing teams fans
through the P.A. how well the game was officiated. Loudest boos of the game.
Another great memory of house league hockey. |
